Frequently Asked Questions

  • All evening rental options include access to the lobby, where food and drink are allowed. However, food and drink are not permitted on the upper levels of the museum during evening rentals. For daytime Playful Parties, hosts may bring food and drink to the 3rd-floor IDEXX STEM Learning Hub, where it can be consumed. Please note that food and drink must be provided by the host, as CMTM does not supply any refreshments during these events.

  • Decorations are subject to specific location and type restrictions. For more information, please contact bookings@kitetails.org.

  • Caterers are allowed for facility rentals, provided they have a certificate of insurance. Please note this does not apply to Friday Fun Nights or Playful Parties.

  • Alcohol is permitted only at Thursday evening facility rentals, provided there is a certificate of insurance and licensed third-party bartenders. Alcohol is not allowed at any other facility rental events, and guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol, whether opened or unopened, onto the premises at any time.

  • Yes! Household members receive a 10% discount on all facility rentals.

Booking Details

Time: 5 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursdays

Includes: From single floor to full rental

Guest Count: Ideal for 50-300 guests

Set-up: Determined per event

Party Supplies: Hosts to supply party materials (i.e. food and drink)

Programming: Program options available (arts & aquarium) / See below

Options

  • MakerSpace Event -  A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 50 guests. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber & dress-up theatre) and the entire second floor of exhibits with a fully stocked and staffed MakerSpace for all your creating adventures! (Starting at $1,000.00)

  • STEM-based Event - A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 50 guests. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber) and the entire third floor of exhibits, with STEM-based educator-led programming in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom. (Starting at $1,000.00)

  • CMTM’s Maddy’s Theatre Event - A private, 2.5-hour rental of Maddy’s Theatre, with seats for up to 89 guests and the viewing gallery. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber). (Starting at $1,500.00)

  • Full Facility Rental (1-100 guests) - A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 100 guests. Includes the entire museum (without Theatre) and a choice between educator-led MakerSpace programming OR special STEM programming in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom. (Starting at $2,500.00)

  • Full Facility Rental (101-300 guests) - 2.5 hours of private access to all three floors of the Children’s Museum, including the climber, the Arts and Culture floor, and the STEM floor. Includes a fully-staffed MakerSpace workshop, where visitors can design, construct, and take home creations made with a variety of tools and materials, and a drop-in, educator-lead STEM program in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom, where young learners can make big connections about the world around them. (Starting at $4,500.00)


    Please note: Discounts for non-profit partners may be available depending on grants and other funding opportunities.

Set-up: Tables set up with disposable covers 

Party Supplies: Hosts to supply party materials (i.e. food and drink)

Programming: No programming or staff activities included

Time: 2 pm - 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays starting in November 2024

Includes: A private room (3rd Floor IDEXX Learning Hub) to host your celebration. Museum admission from 2 - 4 pm for the host and guests.

Guest Count: Up to 30 (including hosts)

Set-up: Tables set up with disposable covers

Party Supplies: Hosts to supply party materials (i.e. food and drink)

Programming: No private programming or staff-led activities included; attendees have access to public programming and all exhibits open to the public from 2 - 4 pm, and private access to the IDEXX STEM Learning Hub and Pet Vet exhibit.
