Youth Actors

CASTING NOTICE:  Seeking Young Actors ages 10-17 to Perform in Intergenerational Play for Families:  UNPAID OPPORTUNITY (Spring 2025)

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is seeking young actors to perform in the upcoming intergenerational play the Children’s Theatre Season:

Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress

Based on the book by Christine Baldacchino

Adapted for the stage by juliany taveras

Directed by Ruthie Scarpino

In-person auditions will be held on Monday, November 25 from 3:30-5:30pm. Actors will be scheduled into 30 minute group slots, and auditions will consist of theatre games and team-work activities facilitated by the director. Actors do not need to prepare any material for auditions, and are simply asked to arrive ready to play.

Available Youth Roles:

MORRIS: small child, big heart. a dreamer. Lover of yummy snacks & enticing sounds.

THE GIRLS AKA classmates Becky and Lila: they seem to think only they can wear dresses. (they’re wrong.) Double into THE SAFARI.

THE BOYS AKA classmates Eli and Henry: aspiring astronauts… but a little exclusionary, as far as explorers go. tsk tsk. Double into THE SAFARI.

THE SAFARI AKA Tiger, Elephant, Zebra, and Giraffe:  these lively spirits are Morris’s inner guides, his free-est selves.

Note: This is an intergenerational physical play of youth and adult actors performing together. Actors will work closely with the director and each other on ensemble building, work creation, and puppetry to bring this fantasy adventure to life. Due to the demanding performance schedule, the Maddy’s Theatre Team plans to double cast all youth roles.

Production Calendar

Rehearsals are typically on weekdays from 6-8:30pm. Youth actors are never asked to stay later than 8:30pm. Performances are typically Wednesday through Sunday, with two shows scheduled on most weekend days. More performances are also scheduled on school vacations. See specific rehearsal calendars for more information.
