The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine and the Raising Readers program at Maine Health announce the installation of the “Little Beaver and Echo” exhibit at the Museum & Theatre’s location on Thompson’s Point. The illustrated pages are mounted along the indoor route that families take to enter the Maine Watershed Aquarium; there visitors can also see a beaver specimen from the Museum & Theatre’s collection on display and learn about its habitat and lifeways.

As the second in the Visiting Artist Series at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, Roberta March will facilitate a communal art project. Visitors to the Makerspace will be invited to use markers and art supplies to create designs, patterns and pictures on individual wood pieces. These decorated pieces will be added to a communal, large-scale wooden butterfly mosaic. The butterfly was chosen for this project because it is a species endangered and impacted by climate change, and a symbol of hope and change.

This week, March 14 - 18, we are celebrating AmeriCorps Week and recognizing the service of thousands of members and volunteers making an impact on communities across the United States. Shout out to Museum & Theatre Volunteer and Intern Coordinator Sharon Kane, an AmeriCorps VISTA member. She has done incredible work bolstering programs that provide learning opportunities for skill building, and build partnerships between the Museum & Theatre and the greater community.

Flying Colors: 2022 Benefit Art Auction will welcome event participants on Friday, May 13, from 6pm to 9pm. Guests young at heart will have the opportunity to explore all 3 floors of exhibits, participate in fun art activities, bid on exceptional pieces of art by local Maine artists, and enjoy delicious food and drinks. For the first time this Benefit Auction will take place within the Museum & Theatre building itself, providing a rare chance for adults to explore the building and at the same time discover the amazing work by local Maine artists, displayed through the building.

Last week the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) moved Cumberland County and the entire State of Maine to the designation of "medium" community level for COVID-19. As a result of these changing conditions, I wanted to share with you the Museum & Theatre’s updated masking policy. As an institution that listens to content experts and follows science, we have​ been committed to mirroring CDC guidance as it pertains to our decisions around the spread of COVID 19, including masking.
