Staff Spotlight: Kifah Abdulla

Kifah Abdulla is a Play Assistant at the Museum & Theatre. As an artist, Kifah encourages visitors to just start making art. He points out, “There are no mistakes in art, no right or wrong. Museum & Theatre announces Flying Colors: 2022 Benefit Art Auction

Flying Colors: 2022 Benefit Art Auction will welcome event participants on Friday, May 13, from 6pm to 9pm. Guests young at heart will have the opportunity to explore all 3 floors of exhibits, participate in fun art activities, bid on exceptional pieces of art by local Maine artists, and enjoy delicious food and drinks. For the first time this Benefit Auction will take place within the Museum & Theatre building itself, providing a rare chance for adults to explore the building and at the same time discover the amazing work by local Maine artists, displayed through the building.

Emma works at the Museum & Theatre as a Visitor Engagement Assistant, helping to greet visitors, check families in, and stamp kids' hands as they enter the museum. National Endowment for the Arts awards $150,000 Grant to the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine as part of the American Rescue Plan

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is pleased to announce they have been approved to receive an American Rescue Plan grant in the amount of $150,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to help the arts and cultural sector recover from the pandemic. The Museum & Theatre will use this funding for its arts education mission by supporting arts educators, visiting artist stipends, and marketing of art programming. The Museum & Theatre is one of seven recipients in Maine.

Celebrate the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the Museum & Theatre

This year, we celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with “Black is Beautiful Art Exploration” during the January 15th, 16th, and 17th play sessions of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Weekend.

Also, the Museum & Theatre will be OPEN to all members of the public for play sessions on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. (Normally Mondays are reserved for members).

Lastly, we are hosting a donation drive in partnership with Maine Needs for the month of January.

Maddy’s Theatre stages the world premiere of Crisscrossing the Galaxy Faster Than the Speed of Light in Search of a Hug written by Arizona-based playwright Paco José Madden at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine on Thompson’s Point, running from January 21 - February 6, 2022. This production is an intergenerational play, featuring a cast of five actors- three professional adult actors and two youth actors.

Maddy's Theatre announces upcoming Playwright Talkbacks

Maddy’s Theatre announces two Talkbacks with the playwrights of Frederick, the Musical and Crisscrossing the Galaxy at Faster than the Speed of Light for a Hug. Talkbacks are a chance for audiences to get to know the playwright, find out the inspiration behind the show, and learn more about the playwriting process. Suzanne Maynard Miller will be attending the Frederick, the Musical, show on Tuesday, December 28, at 4pm and the Talkback will happen immediately following the performance. Paco José Madden will be attending the Crisscrossing the Galaxy at Faster than the Speed of Light for a Hug show on January 29th, at 4 pm and the Talkback will happen immediately following the performance.

CMTM Holiday Benefit Auction 2021

The 2021 Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine Holiday Benefit Auction kicked off on Friday, November 26! The Benefit Auction will be open for bidding until December 12, so make sure to check out packages!
