Talk-back with Michael J. Bobbitt

  • The Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join Blueberries for Sal: The Musical playwright Michael J. Bobbitt for a talk-back on Sunday, July 31st at 4pm. Bobbitt will be joined by members of the cast and production team. Attendance is FREE but RSVPS are required.

"If you can imagine, adapting a well-known beloved children's book into a musical already comes with a lot of pressure. With only a few visits to Maine and a lot of research, my co-writes and I wanted to get the spirit of the book, the spirit of Maine and find a way to bring these characters to life - characters that every child and parent in Maine probably personified in their own minds. I hope we did Maine, the McClosky's and especially Sal proud."

Audience members from the performance are encouraged to stay and join the discussion. Talk-back attendees do not need to attend the performance to attend the talk-back. The talk-back RSVP is not a ticket to the performance. This is a special, after-hours event that does not grant access to the rest of the Museum & Theatre. Performance tickets and Museum visits can be booked separately.

We are committed to making Maddy's Theatre as welcoming as possible. If you'd like to reserve one of the following accommodations, or have questions about further accommodations, please email boxoffice@kitetails.org.

  • Most of our seats are 18-20 inches wide; we do offer seats that are 23 inches.

Based on the book by Robert McCloskey, adapted for the stage by Michael J. Bobbitt and Sandra B. Eskin, music and lyrics by William Yanesh.

Directed by Amanda Eaton

**Audience members age 2+ must wear a mask or appropriate facial covering during this specific performance.**

Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk! Sal and her mother are picking blueberries to can for the winter. But when Sal wanders to the other side of Blueberry Hill, she discovers a mama bear preparing for her own long winter.  Meanwhile Sal's mother is being followed by a small bear with a big appetite for berries! Will each mother go home with the right little one? A caper of mixed up reunions between mothers and babies, this tale ends with everything put aright.

Ideal for ages 3-10 and their families.

Tickets are $15 per person for adults and children.
